Are you interested in joining our club? Would you like to know more about us? Read on for more information - hopefully this document will answer most of your questions about us. If you have more questions that you'd like to ask, please feel free to contact us using the link on the left. How do I become a member? Do I need a Commodore to join? What sorts of vehicles are accepted? How much does membership cost? What are the benefits of membership? What does my money pay for? Who decides how the money will be spent? Can I get involved in events even if I'm not a paying member? How do I become a member? It's very simple - to become a member, you just need to fill out an application form and pay your money! Membership forms can be downloaded here, in .pdf format - you will need Adobe Reader to view it. If you don't have Adobe Reader you can download it for free from adobe.com. We will also have hard copies of the forms at all our meets and events so you can grab them on the day if you need to. Forms can be either mailed to us, scanned then emailed to us, or handed to a Committee member in person at one of our meets. Please bear in mind that your membership will not be officially validated until you have met one of our Committee members, either on a cruise/meet or at another time - so we'd prefer forms and money to be handed to us in person. This also enables us to give you a receipt, and your membership pack on the spot. Do I need a Commodore to join? Well, the answer is, yes and no.To become a full member of our club, you need to own an eligible vehicle, as the club is primarily designed for Commodore owners. However, we recognise that there may be people (partners of existing members, people who are without a licence for whatever reason) who may want to be involved and contribute financially to the club, but don't own a vehicle at all or a vehicle that meets our criteria. For those people, we have created an Associate Member category - it comes with all the benefits of full membership, other than the right to vote at club meetings - and at a slightly reduced cost. Details of our fee structure is found below. What sorts of vehicles are accepted? We accept all vehicles based on the Commodore body shape, providing they were Holden or HSV badged from the factory. This includes all Commodores from VB to the current VE shape, all Calais models, Statesman and Caprice models from VQ onwards, and late model Monaros. It also includes all HSV and HDT variants of all these cars, and all body styles including sedans, wagons and utilities. Accordingly, Crewmans, Adventras, Coupe4s, GTS and GTO models are also accepted. Vehicles such as Lexcens, which although manufactured by Holden but were not badged as Holdens from the factory, will be accepted on a case by case basis - so if you own one of these and would like to join, then please contact us so we can discuss it. How much does membership cost? Full membership to our club is a nominal cost of $20 per year, with a one off joining fee of $30 - in other words, $50 for the first year, then $20 per year after that. Associate membership to our club (for those who don't own an eligible vehicle but would still like to be involved) is $10 per year, with the same $30 joining fee. As outlined above, this gives you alll the benefits of membership, except you aren't eligible to vote at club meetings. Gold membership is also available, for those who would like to contribute over and above the standard membership fees. As a token of our gratitude for doing this, you can have a free email alias from our domain (

) as well as a special title on our forums so you can be recognised as a supporter. (You will need to set this up with one of our administrators once we've received your payment). Plus you'll have warm fuzzy feelings in your stomach, as you watch the club grow in popularity and know that you helped us out! Methods of payment are outllined on our membership forms, which can be downloaded here, in .pdf format. For the reasons mentioned above, we prefer payment in person so that you can be validated immediately. What are the benefits of membership? First of all, on joining you will receive a membership pack, which contains: 1 x 570mm TasCommodores sticker, in reflective white vinyl 1 x 300mm TasCommodores sticker, in white vinyl 1 x TasCommodores keyring, with your unique membership number engraved on it A welcome letter to the club A copy of our rules
If you received your membership pack in person, then your membership will most likely be automatically validated. If you didn't, then you will need to meet one of our Committee members, either at a club event or elsewhere, so that we can confirm your identity. This is also a gentle encouragement for our members to participate in the club. People are quite welcome to pay their money and never get involved, however we'd really like all our members to make the effort to come along to events whenever they can, not only because it's fun, but also to help the club grow and increase awareness of us in the community (in a positive way). Once you're validated, you will be given access to private sections of the forum which can't be seen by non-validated members. Your keyring is your means of identifying yourself as a member of the club. As we grow, we will continue to contact local businesses for support in the way of sponsorship and discounts. A number of Tasmanian businesses have already expressed interest in supporting our members, so stay tuned. Please don't lose this keyring, as if you do then we'll need to cancel your membership number and re-issue you with a new one, meaning you will also have to pay another joining fee. As a member of our club you will also be invited to all the events we hold. We are part social club, part car club - so while we will have many informal events such as cruises and BBQs, we will also attend car shows as a club, including having our own display - as a member of our club, if you feel your car is worthy of displaying at a car show then you'd be more than welcome to join us and be a part of our club display. Some of our members also participate regularly at drag meets at AC Delco Dragway, and club meetings at Symmons Plains, so if you enjoy watching or participating in motorsport then you will enjoy hanging out with us! We welcome collaboration with other clubs (indeed, some of our members are also members of other clubs such as the Tassie Cruise Club, Hobart Cruise Club, North West Car Club and the Light Car Club of Tasmania) so some of our events may also involve other clubs - particularly any charity events which we may organise. Down the track, as we grow, we have also discussed CAMS certification, which brings with it a whole host of benefits as well. What does my money pay for? Basically, your money pays for the ongoing expenses of the club. Your joining fee basically covers the cost of what's in the membership pack, with a couple of dollars left over for paper, printing, packaging, and postage, if necessary. Your annual membership fee goes towards the club's expenses. These include annual registration fees (to become an Incorporated Association, an annual fee needs to be paid to the Department of Consumer Affairs and Fair Trading - to view our Certificate, click here. Other expenses include web hosting, PO Box rental, banners and signage for the club (for displays at car shows), and insurance costs for club events, where necessary. We are officially a non-profit organisation - that means that any money that we have left over after paying expenses, will be put back into the club to benefit our members. We also aim for full disclosure to the members of how the club's money is spent, and as per our rules the club's financial situation is audited at the end of each financial year, and the report made available to all members for their scrutiny. If you have any queries about how things are being done, then you're welcome to contact our committee members to discuss it. Who decides how the money will be spent? Our spending is determined by the Committee - currently our President and Treasurer are co-signatories to the account, although other Commitee members may be added later. This means that all spending is a joint decision, and the Committee are accountable to each other, as well as the rest of the club's membership. Can I get involved in events even if I'm not a paying member? Of course you can! We understand that not everyone will feel comfortable paying money to come along and join us without seeing what we're like. Please, feel free to come along to a cruise or event and meet us all. We're confident that you will enjoy yourself and meet some great people. However if you are seen to be coming along to events regularly and are not willing to contribute to our costs, then that would be frowned upon by the club. We feel that membership is a reasonable cost, and that the benefits are well worth the small amount of money. So feel free to come along to an event, bring a friend, and join our club - you know you want to! :) Back to top
